Kim Freshwater – Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2013

Meet Kim Freshwater, who lost a staggering 17st 5lbs after joining our Havant (Hampshire) group in March 2011.

Kim battled with her weight for nearly 40 years, weighing 29st and wearing a dress size 38 at her heaviest. Her weight was becoming a barrier to spending valuable time with her family, and causing her health problems along the way.

“Before I lost weight, I had to walk with sticks and I couldn’t fit in the seats at the cinema or on rides like rollercoasters.

“I once broke a chair at my friends house which was mortifying”.

After trying many diets, she turned to Slimming World after her local GP referred her under to seek help with losing weight. She has transformed her eating habits, by now eating three healthy home-made meals and snacks through the day.

“I actually eat more now that I did before – but I’ve learned how to make good choices,” she said. “The plan isn’t a diet – we all eat together as a family and we have lots of our old favourite meals, just adjusted so that they’re cooked in a healthier way.”
